Life through my sisters eyes

Life is so precious and sometimes, actually a lot of the time we are so busy doing things we think are so important we miss out on life! We are so blessed to have our sister, Susie who adds such simple joy to our lives. A great day to Susie is as simple as coffee out and a trip to the Dollar Store! Susie loves to go on trips with me and her favourite is spending time at Birch Bay, I’ve learned over the years that we need to stay at least 5 nights....she always says, “we stay longer?”😂😂

On our most recent trip we went to Victoria, BC, Susie has always had a great affinity for the Royals, maybe because her middle name is Elizabeth but not sure. She has had a subscription to the Royals magazine for years and always knows what’s going with them so I thought Victoria would be great.

We left Tuesday morning & headed for the ferry, the weather was rainy and windy so our ferry ride was a little rough (or as Susie likes to say,” wibble, wobbley”) but we made it! Our next stop was the Dollar Store, to load up on crafting goods for the stay then on our way to the resort, a 2 bedroom apartment with all the perks that Susie has become accustomed to. Her own bedroom with 2 beds, one for her and one for her many dolls, a tv, her own bathroom, a washer & dryer and she really likes a window so she can keep an eye on what’s going on outside! If we ever have to stay at a regular hotel she is very disappointed and heaven forbid if we have to share a bed!!

I do most of the cooking in the space and bring lots from home (just ask my kids), Susie isn’t fussy but has some special requests, one being pancakes with peanut butter and syrup, so that’s always on the menu! I do cook pretty simple and then we will go out for a lunch or dinner at least once and of course coffee, which has to be accompanied by a treat😁
The first day there we went for a walk on Fisherman’s wharf, nothing was open this time of year but we enjoyed seeing the boats and little colourful houses down there, we kept walking until Susie spied a coffee shop and we ended up having coffee and lunch there. We spent our days going for walks, had a wonderful tea at the Empress, so very lovely! We had a peak at Queen Elizabeth in the Parliament building but Susie thought it “too boring” to look around, we did some sightseeing and went for coffee and walked around Victoria for 21/2 hours looking for cups of the Royals, she really wanted Harry, Megan and baby Archie but I guess they aren’t available yet so she settled, quite happily, with one of George and one of Charlotte from their visit here in 2016.

I had invited our sister, Margie to join us for a night but didn’t tell Susie so when she came on Saturday afternoon and we went down to meet her in the lobby, it took Susie a few moments to realize who she was😳 it was quite funny and it’s another moment Susie won’t forget! We enjoyed our time together, talking, laughing, walking, coffee out, and we went for a lovely dinner at a Pub, the food was great, we all had seafood of some sort. When we went back, Margie said we couldn’t go to bed until a puzzle Susie and I had started was finished so at 11:30 we were done🤗

Sunday was go home day which is always a little sad for Susie and I’ve learned that I have to prepare her the day before and answer the same questions over and over...”what time we be out?, not pack yet?, up early?” etc, etc. This time was a little easier leaving because Margie told us of a place that Harry & Megan had gotten lunch and so I told her we would go there and maybe we would catch a glimpse of them🤔 We ended up having lunch there and she was happy knowing Harry and Megan had been there too! From there we headed to the ferry, coffee and a treat on the ferry, then proceeded to get lost after leaving the ferry which Susie thought was quite funny, we ended up heading back to the ferry🙄 but I had Susie home by 7:30. Upon leaving she said, “when I see you again?”

Thanks for reminding me of the simple joys of life Susie❤️
